About Govt. Arts & Science College Calicut
Government Arts & Science College, Calicut, Meenchanda, is one of the well-known colleges in Kerala established in 1964. The college currently hosts 2135 students, 94 Teachers, and 48 Non-teaching staff members, in addition to the principal. Affiliated to the University of Calicut, the institution operates under strict Government policy regarding admission, based on merit and reserving seats for backward classes, with reservations for SC/ST/OEC/SEBC strictly followed.
Highlights & Achievements
Calicut University Rank Holders (2023-25) in MA Malayalam with Journalism, MA Hindi Language & Literature, MSc. Physics (CBCSS), and PG & Research Department of Statistics. Two volunteers selected to represent the University of Calicut in the National Integration Camp 2025-26. NSS National award -2019 received by former principal Dr. S. Jayasree and NSS program officer Dr. C.P. Baby Sheeba from the President of India. Achieved Gold Medal in the 4th Indian National Taekwondo Championship (U-74 Ashwin 3BA ECO) and 3rd Position in the Senior State Kho-Kho Championship. The college received the Excellentia award from the Honourable Minister of Higher Education.
